Purple Squad Camp 2009

Purple Squad is lead by coach Nick Stratis working with assistant coaches Elizabeth Reid, Sherri Hogeboom, Dave Brooks and Perry Hynes. The coaches offer a skill-oriented program that increase ski skills and fitness in fun manner. The emphasis is put on the team concept and social activities will be an important part of the program. They encourage and introduce competition as one of the many activities in conjunction with training techniques, but the emphasis is on skill development based on the “FUNdamentals” (agility, balance and coordination)! Age Requirement and Fees

Purple Squad consists of a group of skiers 10 and 11 years old (born 1998-1999). Registration fees for the season are $200 per child.  To streamline the program this year we will have a squad fee of $145 to cover extracirricular activites (including squad hat, camp fee, coaches gifts, event fees, hall rentals etc...) (installment plans available).Each child must also have a Whitehorse Cross Country ski club membership.
Total Fees: $200 registration fee+ $145 squad fee for extracirriculars + $40 WCCSC membership= $385.00
Maximum number of participants for this year will be 24.

Sessions

Purple Squad will run one time per week from Sat. Sept 19-Sat. Oct 13 and then Purple Squad will offer two weekly sessions beginning October 17th through till the Christmas. After Christmas it will change to 3 days a week.

Squad sessions will take place at the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club. The session times are 4:30 p.m-6:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturdays. After Christmas they will add a Thursday (4:30-6:00) practice.

The period from mid-September to November is dryland training (done on foot) while the rest of the season is done on skis.
