Coaching Opportunities

Each year Cross Country Yukon offers a coaching opportunity program for coaches to gain practical coaching experience. Cross Country Yukon is now accepting applications for coaching assignments for the 2007 – 2008 ski season. Applicants can apply for coaching assignment for the following competitions:

  • World Junior Trials
  • Western Canadian Championships
  • Arctic Winter Games
  • Canadian National Championships

Requirements

  • Demonstrated interest in coaching
  • Availability during the chosen trip or training session
  • Willingness to upgrade coaching skills and certification level
  • Willingness to work under the guidance of the Head Coach
  • Demonstrated understanding and support of the Long Term Athlete Development Model (LTAD)

Cross Country Yukon will cover transportation and accommodation costs for these events. When an interim head coach is needed on a trip, an honorarium will be provided by Cross Country Yukon.

Consideration

Consideration for assignment will be given to candidates who are coaching actively with youths in the Yukon and coaches who are working to improve their coaching certification. On some of the trips, gender may take precedence over other qualification to satisfy special requirement (ex. AWG).
