Coaching Certification

Cross Country Canada Policy - Minimum Mandatory Coaching Qualifications

Coaches must complete a coaching course in order to supervise, instruct or coach ski activities for children such as the Bunnies, Jackrabbits and Lynx ski programs at the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club or the Cross Country Yukon Squad Program.

Coaching Courses Schedule

The Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club will be hosting several coaching courses during October and November.

Fee: $40.00 per course

  • fee payable at first session
  • cheque made out to Cross Country Yukon
  • a minimum of 5 participants is required to offer the course

Introduction to Community Coaching Certification

For leading Bunnies and assisting Jackrabbits, Orange Squad or Purple Squad

  • 10 hours of classroom instruction
  • no on snow sessions required
  • for the classroom sessions only bring paper, pen, binder and snacks

Dates: Friday October 27 from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Saturday October 28 from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Community Coaching

Competition Coaching Introduction

For leading Green Squad - "Learning to Train"

Section A

Dates: Saturday November 17 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Sunday November 18 from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Section B

For Section B most of the weekend will be spent on snow.

Dates: Saturday November 24 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Sunday November 25 from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

* participants must have completed the Community Coaching course and a practical coaching component

* section A and B must be completed in order
